I. General Overview
Area: 29,700 square kilometers.
Population: 2.976 million (as of January 1, 2023). Armenians account for approximately 98.1% of the population. Other ethnic groups include Russians, Ukrainians, Assyrians, Greeks, Georgians, Belarusians, Jews, Kurds, etc.
The official language is Armenian, and many residents are fluent in Russian. In 2021, Armenia's GDP reached US$13.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%, and its foreign trade volume reached US$8.379 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.7%. In 2022, its GDP reached US$19.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%, and its foreign trade volume reached US$14.129 billion, a year-on-year increase of 63.5%.

III. Trademark Application Procedure and Required Documents
1. Trademark Registrable Elements and Types
Elements that can be registered as trademarks in Armenia include: text, graphics, symbols, slogans, three-dimensional logos, color combinations, sounds, motion graphics, holograms, location marks, etc.
The types of trademarks that can be registered in Armenia are: trademarks, service marks, collective marks, and certification marks.

3. Required Documents
⦁ Applicant's name and address;
⦁ List of goods and/or services;
⦁ Clear representation of the mark;
⦁ Power of attorney;
⦁ If a priority is claimed, a certified copy of the priority document and its translation are required
4. Application Procedure and Timeline
Filing: the 11th edition of Nice Classification is adopted; multiple-class applications are possible; the first-to-file principle is followed
Formal examination: 1 month
Publication/Opposition: the opposition period is 2 months
Substantive examination: 5-6 months
Registration: It takes about 10-12 months from filing to registration (if smooth).
5. Protection Period and Renewal
The validity period is 10 years from the date of application and can be renewed for 10 years each time before expiration
5. Assignment
Allowed for both pending and registered trademarks. An assignment agreement and power of attorney are required, and the processing period is approximately 6 months.
5. Chang of Name/Address
Trademark changes require proof of change and a power of attorney, and the processing period is approximately 6 months.
8. Cancellation
Non-use Cancellation: If a trademark has not been used for 5 consecutive years, any interested party may file a cancellation request for the non-used trademark.
