I. General Overview
Area: According to the 1947 UN resolution on the partition of Palestine, the State of Israel covers an area of 15,200 square kilometers. Between 1948 and 1973, Israel occupied large tracts of Arab territory during four Middle East wars, withdrew from these territories gradually after the 1980s. Currently, Israel controls approximately 25,000 square kilometers.
Population: 9.79 million (September 2023), of which Jews make up approximately 73%, Arabs 21%, and the remainder comprised of Druze and other ethnic groups. Jews are predominantly Judaism, while the remaining ethnic groups practice Islam, Christianity, and other religions. Hebrew is the official language, and English is widely spoken.

III. Trademark Application Procedure and Required Documents
1. Trademark Registrable Elements and Types
Elements that can be registered as trademarks in Israel include: words, graphics, symbols, numbers, slogans, three-dimensional logos, color combinations, sounds, smells, etc.
The types of trademarks that can be registered in Israel include: trademarks, service marks, collective trademarks, and certification trademarks.

2. Required Documents
⦁ Clear representation of the mark;
⦁ List of goods and/or services;
⦁ Applicant's name, nationality and address;
⦁ Power of attorney;
⦁ If priority is claimed, a certified copy of the priority document is required.
2. Application Process
Filing: the 12th edition of the Nice Classification is adopted; multiple-class applications are possible; the principle of first-to-file is adopted, and well-known trademarks are recognized.
Examination: Formal examination and substantive examination take 4-6 months.
Publication/Opposition: The opposition period is 3 months.
Registration: If everything goes well, it takes about one year from filing to registration.
2. Protection Period and Renewal
The validity period is 10 years from the date of application. It can be renewed 3 months before the expiration date for an additional grace period of 6 months, and each renewal is valid for 10 years.
6. Assignment
Allowed for both pending and registered trademarks. An assignment agreement must be provided, and the processing period is approximately one month.
7. Chang of Name/Address
Allowed for both pending and registered trademarks. a proof of change needs to be provided if required by an examiner, and the processing time is about one month.
8. Cancellation
Non-use Cancellation: If a trademark has not been used for three consecutive years, any interested party may file a cancellation request for the non-used trademark.
