I. General Overview
Area: 199,900 square kilometers
The population is 7 million (as of May 2023). There are over 80 ethnic groups, including Kyrgyz (73.3%), Uzbeks (14.7%), Russians (5.6%), Dungans (1.1%), Uyghurs (0.9%), Tajiks (0.9%), Turks (0.7%), and Kazakhs (0.6%). Other ethnic groups include Tatars, Azerbaijanis, Koreans, and Ukrainians. In 2022, the country's GDP was approximately US$10.93 billion, a year-on-year increase of 7%, and its per capita GDP was US$1,358. In the first half of 2023, Kyrgyz GDP was approximately US$5.164 billion, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%.

III. Trademark Application Procedure and Required Documents
1. Trademark Registrable Elements and Types
Elements that can be registered as trademarks in Kyrgyzstan include: text, graphics, symbols, slogans, three-dimensional logos, color combinations, etc.
The types of trademarks that can be registered in Kyrgyzstan include: trademarks, service marks, and collective trademarks.

⦁ If there is any doubt about the authenticity of the power of attorney, it must be legalized by the embassy or consulate.

4. Application Process
Filing: the 12th edition of Nice Classification is adopted; multiple-class applications are possible; the first-to-file principle is followed
Examination: formal examination and substantive examination
Registration: It takes about 9-11 months from filing to registration.
Publication: No opposition procedure. The invalidation or cancellation may be filed with the Appeal Committee within five years after the publication.
5. Protection Period and Renewal
The validity period is 10 years from the date of application and can be renewed for 10 years each time before expiration
6. Assignment
Allowed for both pending and registered trademarks. An assignment agreement is required and the processing time is approximately 3-6 months.
7. Chang of Name/Address
Allowed for both pending and registered trademarks. A notarized proof of change is required, and the processing time is approximately 3-6 months.
8. Cancellation
Non-use Cancellation: If a trademark has not been used for three consecutive years, any interested party may file a cancellation request for the non-used trademark.
