I. General Overview
Area: 143,100 square kilometers.
The population is 10.01 million (as of January 2023). There are 86 ethnic groups, of which Tajiks account for approximately 80%, Uzbeks for 15.3%, and Russians for 1%. Tatars, Kyrgyz, Ukrainians, Turkmens, Kazakhs, Belarusians, and Armenians also make up the population. In 2022, Tajikistan's GDP was 115.7 billion somoni (approximately US$11.57 billion), an 8% year-on-year increase. In the first half of 2023, GDP was 54.2 billion somoni (approximately US$4.93 billion), an 8.3% year-on-year increase. In 2022, Tajikistan's foreign trade exceeded US$7.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 15%. In the first half of 2023, Tajikistan's foreign trade reached US$3.4 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.8%. Tajikistan's major trading partners are Russia, Kazakhstan, and China.

1. Trademark Registrable Elements and Types
Elements that can be registered as trademarks in Tajikistan include: text, graphics, symbols, slogans, three-dimensional logos, color combinations, sounds, etc.
The types of trademarks that can be registered in Tajikistan include: trademarks, service marks, and collective trademarks.

4. Application Procedure and Timeline
Filing: the 11th edition of Nice Classification is adopted; multiple-class applications are possible; the first-to-file principle is followed
Formal examination: 1 month
Publication/Opposition: There is no formal opposition procedure, but objections can be raised during the trademark examination process.
Substantive examination: 12-20 months
Registration: It takes about 16-25 months from filing to registration (if smooth).
Publication: Can apply for invalidation or cancellation before the Appeal Committee
5. Protection Period and Renewal
The validity period is 10 years from the date of application and can be renewed for 10 years each time before expiration

Allowed for both pending and registered trademarks. An assignment agreement is required and the processing time is approximately 3-6 months.

Allowed for both pending and registered trademarks. A notarized proof of change is required, and the change period is approximately 3-6 months.
8. Cancellation
Non-use Cancellation: If a trademark has not been used for three consecutive years, any interested party may file a cancellation request for the non-used trademark.
