I. General Overview
Area: 448,900 square kilometers.
Population: 36.37 million (as of July 2023). Over 130 ethnic groups are represented. Uzbeks make up 80%, Russians 5.5%, and Tajiks 4%. Turkmen, Ukrainians, Uighurs, Armenians, Turks, and Belarusians are also represented. According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, in 2022, Uzbekistan's GDP was US$80.4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%. Per capita GDP was approximately US$2,254, with an inflation rate of 12.2%. In the first half of 2023, GDP reached US$38.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.6%.

III. Trademark Application Procedure and Required Documents
1. Trademark Registrable Elements and Types
Elements that can be registered as trademarks in Uzbekistan include: text, graphics, symbols, slogans, three-dimensional logos, color combinations, etc.
The types of trademarks that can be registered in Uzbekistan include: trademarks, service marks, and collective trademarks.

3. Required Documents
⦁ Applicant's name and address;
⦁ Clear representation of the mark;
⦁ List of goods and/or services;
⦁ Power of attorney
⦁ If a priority is claimed, a certified copy of the priority document and corresponding translation need to be submitted
4. Application Process
Filing: the 12th edition of Nice Classification is adopted; multiple-class applications are possible; the first-to-file principle is followed
Formal examination: 1 week
Publication /opposition: The opposition period is the entire examination period (usually 7 months from the filing date)
Substantive examination: 7 months
Registration: It takes about 8-10 months from filing to registration (if smooth).
Publication: After registration, you can apply for invalidation or cancellation to the Appeal Committee
5. Protection Period and Renewal
The validity period is 10 years from the date of application and can be renewed for 10 years each time before expiration
6. Assignment
Allowed for both pending and registered trademarks. An assignment agreement is required and the processing time is approximately 3-6 months.
7. Chang of Name/Address
Both pending and registered trademarks can be changed, and a notarized proof of change is required, which takes about 3-6 months.
8. Cancellation
Non-use Cancellation: If a trademark has not been used for three consecutive years, any interested party may file a cancellation request for the non-used trademark.
