Our Story

Built in Shenzhen, for companies filing from outside China

Precise IP was founded in December 2013 in Futian District, Shenzhen, a short walk from the manufacturing and export corridor where most foreign brand disputes in China begin.

The problem we set out to solve has not changed. A company in the United States, Germany or the United Kingdom discovers that a mark it has used for years is already registered in China by someone else. Or a supplier has quietly filed the design. By the time the company hears about it, the first-to-file clock has already run.

What that company needs is not a broker who forwards paperwork. It needs a firm recorded with CNIPA that can file the same week, read the Chinese-language file wrapper without a translation delay, and argue the case when it turns adversarial.
That is the firm we built. Recorded under Agency Code 44804, staffed with patent attorneys, patent engineers and trademark attorneys, with translation handled in-house rather than outsourced.

How it works

Four steps from first email to, filing receipt

1

You tell us the mark or the invention

Send the mark, the goods, the countries and any deadline you already know about. If a squatter has already filed, say so. It changes the strategy immediately.

2

We search and give you a straight read

Availability search, sub-class mapping for China, and a plain answer on your odds. If your position is weak, you hear that before you spend anything.

3

Fixed quote, then we file

You get the official fees and our fees separately, with the timeline. Once approved, the attorney on your file prepares and submits the application.

4

We hold the deadlines

Publication, opposition windows, office actions and renewals are tracked on our side. You are told what is coming before it becomes urgent.

China Trademark Registration FAQs

No. You do not need a subsidiary, office or address in China. Foreign applicants file through a licensed Chinese agency — our CNIPA code is 44804 — using a Power of Attorney you sign in your own country. Your rights are identical to a domestic Chinese applicant's.

Typically 9–12 months from filing to certificate. Formal examination takes 1–2 months, substantive examination 5–8 months, then a 3-month publication window. From 1 January 2027 that publication window shortens to 2 months under China's revised Trademark Law.

It depends how far their application has progressed. Still in the publication window, we file an opposition. Already registered, we file an invalidation, or a non-use cancellation if the mark has sat unused for three years. Send us the application number and we will tell you which applies and what it realistically costs.
Madrid is efficient when filing across many countries at once. For China specifically, direct CNIPA filing is stronger: you get sub-class control, you can file Chinese-character versions at the same time, and we can answer office actions immediately without appointing a local agent mid-process. Many clients do both — China direct, everything else via Madrid.
We file a refusal review, usually arguing distinctiveness or distinguishing the cited earlier mark. Many refusals are partial and can be narrowed rather than fought. Review work is quoted separately, and we tell you plainly when a mark isn't worth pursuing rather than billing you to chase it.
A qualified attorney from our Shenzhen office, and you deal with them directly, not an account manager relaying messages.
